Seated shiatsu is a type of pressure-point massage performed with the client seated (often fully clothed) in a chair or stool. Therapists apply presses, squeezes, and percussions on the shoulders, neck, back, and arms to release tension quickly
It adapts full-body shiatsu techniques (based on acupressure and meridian theory) to a seated position and shorter timeframe, typically without the use of oil or floor mats .
Clients remain fully clothed in loose attire, sit in a specially designed massage chair or stool, while the therapist applies targeted pressure to the upper body using hands, thumbs, elbows, and percussion .
Seated shiatsu typically uses moderate pressure. Some areas may feel intense if tight, but it should never be painful. Communicate with your therapist to ensure comfort
Sessions often range from 30-60 mins though can extend to 90 minutes depending on client needs and setting
